The first workshop in 2010 is planned for Saturday 30th January. After that the next is Sunday 14th March 2010.
The day begins at 10.00am.
There will be a short introduction and meditation to help you connect to your inner essence and to create the perfect energies in which your natural talent can blossom.
We will explore:
Reasons why people choose to write about their life or the lives of others.
Methods of acquiring inspiration
Getting started
Finding a Title
Finding a voice
Selecting a point of view
Defining time scales
Imagination and Life Writing: The relationship between fact and fiction
Finding a form
Keeping Going: the benefits and drawbacks of feedback
There will be plenty of opportunity to practice writing but don’t worry! No-one will be forced or persuaded to read out anything they don’t wish to share.
The day will end at approximately 5.00pm. There will be a break for lunch – please bring your own lunch but biscuits and tea/ coffee or fruit juice will be provided.
You should also bring plenty of writing materials as these cannot be supplied on the day.
Participants can choose to enrol on continuation workshops; shorter classes of four hours duration at monthly intervals costing £25. These will examine writing issues in greater depths. You may choose those of interest to your specific requirements. Participation in a full introductory workshop is a pre-requisite to attendance at a continuation class. Pre-booking is essential.
Participants will be encouraged to stay in touch with each other and will have access to a password protected page on my website for 6 months. This will afford the opportunity to post any work they wish to share with their fellow participants and on which they would like comments (up to 1000 words per month). I will offer ongoing support by commenting on participant’s work posted here (up to two pieces of writing per student within the 6 month period).
